Crop of Believers!

Fun, fun weekend!!!  Enjoying my weekend with a great group of ladies at what we affectionately call "The Crop of Believers".  We are doing everything from scrapbooking, to cross stitching, jewelry making to card creating.  Always a fun  Friday night and Saturday.
Crafty lady, Amy, once again is sharing her knowledge and crafty talent teaching ladies how to make bird's nest necklaces.  Nothing like a little food, a little fellowship, and alot of paper to brighten up the day!

I used this sweet little chickadee, from the "You will find Refuge" stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The cardbase is SU's Ruby Red cardstock.  the bird is stamped in black Memento ink and colored with Copics.  The white frame was cut with an oval Spellbinder, then embossed with a Sizzix e.f. and popped up with SU dimensionals.  An organza bow, embellished with pearls finishes this card off.
Thanks for stopping by!

Challenged by OWH

Today's MWT from Operation Write Home was to make a black and white card with 1 accent color.  I thought this was going to be easy; I had a vague idea in my head, but boy, it really went no where!  I ended up with a very different card than I thought I started off making.  And now I know why I don't use black embossing powder too often!!  Even with the embossing buddy, the powder seemed to get everywhere on the white cardstock. From now on, I think I will use black pigment ink and clear embossing powder!
For this card I used:
  • Neenah solar white card stock
  • Versamark stamp pad
  • black embossing powder
  • SU lucky limeade ink
  • black organza ribbon and an adhesive pearl
This card has been entered in the Stampin' Sisters for Christ Challenge.  Thanks for looking!

Woo Hoo! Got Internet!

I know this may sound odd.  Doesn't everybody have internet?!  Well, I have been without for about 3 years and just got it today!  Can you tell I am excited?  No more driving down to the nearest Panera to access their wifi.  I can upload at my leisure and check out challenges any time of day.  This is the life!  Today's card is a valentine that I made for my son.  I hope it is masculine enough.  There are some flowers on the Stampin UP designer paper, Twitterpated.  But, the basic colors are pretty masculine.  Additionally, my son loves dogs.
I used all Stampin Up paper- Crumb Cake, Basic Grey and the dp.  The grey paper was scored with the Simply Scored tool and then I die cut the card edge(both grey and crumb cake) with Stampin Up's new edgelits.
I added the Twitterpated dp to the inside bottom of the card(with the top edge also die cut with the edgelit).  The cute dog image was colored with Copics and backed with pretty in pink cardstock. Isn't he cute? I finished off the card with crumb cake seam binding at the top of the card. Thanks for looking!

Clean and Simple Card?

Today I tried to accomplish 2 things when card crafting.  One was to make the latestOWH Sketch Challenge and the other was to make a clean and simple card.  I find making clean and simple cards very difficult to do as I keep adding layers, ribbon, embellies, etc.  But today's sketch screamed "try it".  This old stamp set from SU, Close to Nature, seemed the perfect stamp for this card.

The card ingredients are as follows:
  • SU Kraft, Naturals Ivory, and black cardstock
  • SU Close to Nature stamps, sentiment
  • Square punches
  • SU's Simply Scored tool
  • Black pigment ink
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Button, twill tape, embroidery floss
